About the Artist

My approach to creating art is focused on capturing the life of a subject, either through the twinkle in the eye or the gesture of a pose. I love the challenge of capturing the essence of my subject and seeing an image come to life. For me, every horse is an individual with features and a personality unique to itself. My artwork is rendered with this in mind.

I grew up in Oakton, VA where my love for horses began at a young age. My neighbor’s inquisitive, sweet-natured grey pony, Telstar, helped spark a lifelong attraction to all things equine.

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Illustration. After graduation, I worked as a graphic artist at an ad agency in Washington, DC and did free lance portraits for clients on the side. Most of my clientele were fellow horse owners that I met while owning and riding my own horses, Silver and Austin. In addition to horse portraits, I frequently do commissions of dogs and cats - I’ve even been know to paint a rainbow trout or two.

I live in Nokesville with my husband, six children, nine chickens, three cats, and three guinea pigs.
